Description:
Ratty 1972 510 wagon setup for uncomfortable but fun driving, autoX and built for the long hauls.
Engine and trans:
It’s powered by an LZ2.2. L20B block bored to 87mm and fitted with a full Z22E rotating assembly, aluminum FW, Roadster clutch, single groove CP and all balanced at a local performance shop. The block it topped off with a Refreshed U67 Head, Kameari 2mm metal head gasket to drop the comp below 10/1, Shriner mild cam, Kameari adj timing/cam gear, Mikuni short runner intake and Mikuni 44mm PHH carbs. Exhaust side is plumbed through an Australian specific L20B cast 4-2 manifold without EGR amenities for better flow. From there back it’s all custom made full SS exhaust.
All connected to a 200sx Dogleg 5 gear funneled into a Roadster H190 CLSD pig sporting wagon 3:91 gears. 15” Rota Wheels wrapped in 195/50ZR15’s
Suspension
Front: 280zx struts, Tokico blue inserts, 180lbs springs, Ground control coilover sleeves and camber plates, Experimental Engineering TC rod and pitman Arm kit, LCA camber bolt kit, 1 1/8” front sway bar, slotted rosters and Porterfield R4S pads on stock ZX calipers. Also added to this list is a DP Racing steering box brace and Kameari strut tower brace.
Rear: 2” lowering blocks, QA1 18 way single adj camero shocks, Derin bushing kit throughout (made by me), Adco 7/8 antiroll bar finished off with Z aluminum drums (disk conversion is on the shelf) with Porterfield R4S shoes.
Interior: mostly stock and or removed. No back seat, no cargo cover, 4 point AutoPower “harness bar”, Sparco seats, Factory tach, Grant wheel, aftermarket gauges mounted in radio slot, RJS 4 point harnesses, wink mirror and a custom 1 off C pillar brace to try and stiffen things up.
Exterior: Fugly cool depending on your taste. Wavy panels, shitty black paint and body work applied by previous owner, BMW Flag Mirrors, Spook, Amber Brights, Pin stripped hood and it’s all littered with vinyl decals, class and numbers for autoX as well as Registry vinyls on the fenders and a USA map on the rear DS cargo window with all the states filled in where I have driven (NOT TRAILERED) the car. All in all she is 1 of a kind.
